Devel Sixteen Announces Entree for 2025 WEC Season

The UAE based manufacture has finally finished contemplating their own relevancy and has made a special announcement today at le sarthe ahead of this years 24 Hours of Le Mans. The hyper car marque is planning to enter their “production ready” hypercar, the Devel Sixteen, into the top prototype class as an LMH car.

Little is known about the project, outside of some headline figures and the images provided. As with most road cars turned race car, the Sixteen’s 12.3L quad turbo v16 has been detuned to 3998hp. This is an order of magnitude larger than anything else on the grid, so we reached out to engine manufacture Steve Morris Engines. They told us that was about as low of a number that they could get out of the motor, and would like us to please not discus this crime against industrial engineering any further.

Devel Sixteen LMH Development Car

Due to the amount of power the car produces, the Balance of Performance (BOP) restrictions have been quite odd. Aside from being far more “draggy” than other entrees in the top prototype class, the Sixteen LMH will be significantly heavier. The road car already tips the scales at 5000lb or 2300kg, depending on which part of their website you read. The race car will not be undergoing any sort of weight reduction, in-fact the opposite will be needed.

We’re told that an extensive use of tungsten ballast and active uranium-235 rods for the on board nuclear reactor will help Devel reach an acceptable weight for the sixteen’s LMH debut. The nuclear reactor doubled a “hybrid system”, not to power the car at the wheels, but instead to take load off the motor and power the cooling loop and electronics.

We think they might go with an RTG, but for now, they are committed to the traditional nuclear option.

Because of the weight increase, the car will feature eight carbon-carbon brake rotors, sixteen calipers, and an as of yet developed Michelin tire specifically for the car.

We reached out to the FIA, to make sure that they were aware of Devel’s plans to race at Le Mans in 2025:

“We’re always glad to get more entry fees manufacture entrees for the WEC. We’ve been working with Devel for the past few years to ensure a smooth season in 2025, and we expect homologation to finally be over with by October of this year at the Sauver Wind Tunnel”, the FIA told us.

We at MSIMA can’t wait to see the Devel Sixteen LMH fly past the competition at 300 mph in 2025!

Also, for those of y’all still sticking around, it’s summer for most of us at MSIMA, so we’re mostly “on vacation”. Expect regularly scheduled bullshitary in august once college and work pisses us off enough!
